Working Smarter Academy exists because too much "professional development" wastes the very thing it claims to protect: your time. We build short, practical courses that hand you tools you'll actually use — starting with AI training for the educators who need it most.
Working Smarter Academy grew out of nearly two decades spent solving technology problems for organizations that couldn't afford to get them wrong. That work meant sitting across the table from short-staffed teams who needed real answers, not more buzzwords — and it's the same philosophy we've brought to training. As artificial intelligence moved from novelty to necessity, we saw the same gap open up in classrooms that we'd spent years closing in offices: powerful tools, and not nearly enough plain-language guidance on how to use them well. Working Smarter Academy is our answer — starting with the people who have the least spare time and the most to gain: K‑12 teachers.

Founder, Working Smarter Academy
Cleatus Davis has spent his career translating complicated technology into plain, usable guidance for people who don't have time to become experts themselves. He's the founder and CEO of Ultimate IT Guys, an IT and cybersecurity firm serving public housing authorities across the country, and the founder of Housing Authority AI, which helps those same agencies put artificial intelligence to work safely and practically.
Before starting his own companies, Cleatus worked in technical and financial roles at some of the largest IT services organizations in the world, supporting Fortune 500 companies and large government agencies. Since 2008 he's worked directly with housing authorities, schools and small businesses on technology, security, and — more recently — how to use AI without the hype. He's a regular speaker and trainer at industry conferences across a seven-state region, known for making technical topics make sense to people who are busy doing everything else.
Working Smarter Academy is a natural next step: taking that same "keep it simple, make it useful" approach and putting it in front of a new audience — starting with teachers, who may be the busiest, most under-supported professionals of all.
No jargon, no gatekeeping. If a lesson can't be explained simply, we haven't finished building it yet.
Every course starts with the real constraints of the audience — limited time, limited budget, real deadlines.
Especially with AI, we teach what's appropriate and safe to use — not just what's possible.
Time saved, tasks simplified, confidence gained. If a lesson doesn't change what you do on Monday, it doesn't ship.
We're always glad to talk about how Working Smarter Academy can support your staff.
